Roof and Gutter De-icing

In the winter a roof has plenty of warm air from the attic to keep it higher than freezing temperature, but the gutters and the eaves are suspended in the air and both will freeze very quickly, keeping the snow from melting. The rest of the roof allows the snow to melt throughout the day from the warm air in the attic. This water runs down the roof and it hits the snow piled up on the eaves and backs up, getting in under the shingles of the roof and causing extensive damage to the insulation, wood, living area and causes mold to grow quickly. You can install heat trace cable on your roof to defrost the gutters and the overhanging eaves so the water will run freely and prevent damage to the inside of your home.
